Oramai non c’è più dubbio, con la quarta vittoria allo sprint conquistata oggi (la seconda consecutiva), Sacha Modolo è lo sprint principe del Tour of Qinghai Lake. Nella 9° tappa della corsa cinese con partenza ed arrivo a Zhangye di 117km, il Bardiani Valvole – CSF Inox Pro Teamha gestito in maniera perfetta il finale non lasciando spazio agli avversari e a tutti gli altri velocisti presenti in gruppo.
Nella prima parte di corsa il #greenteam manteneva a debita distanza la fuga di giornata, ripresa a 10km dal traguardo. Poi Marco Coledan con una lunga progressione allungava il gruppo dai 2km agli 800 metri dal traguardo, qui entrava di scena come ultimo uomo Filippo Fortin che lasciava Sacha Modolo in testa ai -300 metri. Il velocista veneto partiva lungo e con un’inarrestabile progressione vinceva nettamente, davanti all’americano Keough (UnitedHealthcare) e Richeze (Lampre).
“Ho finito gli aggettivi per descrivere il fantastico lavoro che anche hanno fatto tutti i miei compagni – racconta Modolo dopo il traguardo -.Oggi non abbiamo sbagliato niente, siamo stati perfetti!. Nel finale le altre squadra hanno provato a scombussolare i nostri piani cercando di anticiparci. A 600 metri dal traguardo c’era un’ultima curva, lì sono entrato in 3° posizione dietro a Fortin che poi è partito alla grande, lanciandomi una volata perfetta. Sono veramente contento per questa nuova vittoria. Ci mancano ancora diverse tappe al termine della corsa, magari ci sarà l’occasione per la cinquina!”.
Felice ovviamente anche il direttore sportivo Mirko Rossato:“ Il profilo della tappa, completamente pianeggiante, ha dato a tutte le squadre l’ambizione di fare bene e quindi non è stato facile per noi gestire il finale e portare Modolo nella migliore posizione per la volata. Bravi tutti, sono veramente orgoglioso di come abbiamo corso”.
La classifica generale non ha subito cambiamenti con l’iraniano Poorseyedi (Tabir) sempre in testa e Angelo Pagani 10° a 2.15 minuti. Quella punti vede leader incontrato Sacha Modolo, che con questa vittoria ha messo ulteriore margine sugli inseguitori.
Domani il Tour of Qinghai Lake prevede la 10° tappa Wuwei a Jingtai di 191km, con un salita a 57km dal traguardo.

Now there isn’t doubt, with the fourth win (second in a row) achieved today, Sacha Modolo is Tour of Qinghai Lake’s king sprinter. In the stage 9 with start and finish in Zhangye of 117km, the Bardiani Valvole – CSF Inox Pro Team has managed in a perfect way the finale didn’t leave any chance to the other teams and sprinters.
In the second part of the stage, the #greenteam closed the gap to the early breakaway with 10km to go. Then Marco Coledan set a fast pace on the front of the peloton from 2km to 800m, here was the time of Filippo Fortin who led out Sacha Modolo for the sprint. The italian sprinter started his final rush with 300 meters to the finish line and no one was able to pass him. He won ahead the american Keough (UnitedHealthcare) and Richeze (Lampre).
“I have finished the adjectives to describe the outstanding work did by my teammates – says Modolo after the arrival -. Today we didn’t do anything wrong, we were perfect!. In the final the other teams tried to anticipate us, but we entered in the first position at the last corner (-600 meter) and then Fortin was a super led out man. I’m so happy for this new victory. There are another stages in the coming days suitable for me, so the quintet is possible”.
Satisfied for today win is of course sport director Mirko Rossato:”The route of this stage was completely flat, so every squads had ambitions to do well and for us wasn’t easy to manage the finale and lead Modolo in the best position for the bunch sprint. All have done a superb work, I proud of my guys and how the raced today”.
In the general classification anything is changed with Poorseyedi (Tabir) in 1st position and Angelo Pagani 10th with 2.15 minutes. While with this fourth win, Sacha Modolo is increased his leadership of point classication.
Tomorrow Tour of Qinghai Lake’s stage 10 will start in Wuwei and finish in Jingtai after 191km and a uphill with 57km to go.
